The 2026 tax filing season is now in full swing. You may be wondering if you need the services of a tax professional, or you may have received a letter from the firm or the individual who prepared your taxes last year saying that they are retired.
Greetings, I am Lynn Spencer, CEO and partner at Killingsworth Spencer, LLC. We have been a part of Roswell since 2001, “Helping Clients Understand the Choices that Matter” ®. We are a firm comprised of CPA’s, Enrolled Agents (EA’s), bookkeeping professionals, and other seasoned accounting tax advisors, and preparers. Killingsworth Spencer is here to help our clients fully understand their options to save taxes today and in the future while being in full compliance with the taxing agencies. In addition to tax preparation, we provide year-round tax planning, and advisory support for clients who value ongoing, highly personalized guidance.
The IRS has published a quick guide to understand the type of tax professional you may need. https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/choosing-a-tax-professional. Killingsworth Spencer, LLC meets every guideline required to act on the client’s behalf. A very important question to ask when interviewing firms is if there is a team behind the name, and if more than one set of eyes reviews the information for accuracy and completeness. What is the backup plan if a sole proprietor owner becomes incapacitated? Also, where is your confidential data stored and if there is an electronic copy of your source data and tax return?
Many preparers and tax firms stop taking new clients by early February because their staff becomes overwhelmed. We are able to service new clients, but we may experience a need to pause new clients so that we can continue to provide excellent service. If you need our services, please do not wait to call for an appointment to see one of our professionals.
